There's something about waiting for the full moon to rise. Something unlike a sun rise. Maybe it's the quiet anticipation of seeing that brilliant glowing orb peak out from the horizon. Slowly, gracefully rising into the night sky. Maybe it's the time of day. Maybe it's the lighting of it all. Ultimately, it's a beautiful moment to witness. I do my best to catch them when I can. I advise everyone to catch at least one moon rise in their lifetime.
The ocean is the best place to view a moon rise. There are no obstructions, no trees, no buildings. Just the horizon line and the ocean breathing in the background. On a particularly empty beach at night it is a most peaceful event. If photographing, then a tripod is absolutely necessary. One doesn't realize how quickly the moon rises until they try to capture it on camera.
In honor of this month's supermoon, I thought I would share some of my favorite shots of this glorious orb that graces our sky.
